Rides of the week

The week started off with a hill workout. I went down limecreek and back up the hill twice. My times were 5:03 and 5:36. Next time I'll shoot for 3 times up the hill. This week I started lifting weights again, I had stopped lifting when I started riding so much. I was starting to bulk up too much and when you are in weight-loss mode adding more muscle than what you need can be depressing a bit. At least for me anyway. I also started the Carmichael Power Training classes. This week was sessions 3 and 4. I've been sticking close to home this week on my rides, i did interval training on a 1 mile loop through my neighborhood. I also have been doing the 3 mile stretch from my house up Limecreek. I did it in 9:21, averaging 19.3 mph. I'll use this as a field test as sorts as well. The only drawback to this route being used as a field test is the fact that there is a light on Anderson Mill and then a left on Limecreek.

I did a little exploring on my ride today, I went through Twin Creeks subdivision, there seems to be some good hills in there. I didn't go all the way down to the bottom but it appears that it goes all the way down to Anderson Mill Road. I'll come back to this one when I need a hill. I like this one as it is a long and steady grade. Most of the hills seem to be short with a steep grade.  Check it out on MapMyRide.com.

Tomorrow's the Tri-County Hill Hopper, I'm signed up for the 67 mile ride. I've never been to Round Top Texas so this should be fun! Not sure what to expect from the route, 67 miles of hills? From the event Web site it says "Each route provides a hilly ride complemented by some flats". This could be interesting, not sure if I'm ready for 67 miles straight up hill. I mapped the route on MapMyRide and the elevation profile doesn't look too bad, it doesn't look as bad to 360 or Lost Creek of course the only time I've ridden that distance it was out to Georgetown and back which is relatively flat. I stopped at Bicycle Sport Shop and loaded up with Hammer Nutrition product to help fuel me. It was the first time I'd been to the shop on Lamar. It was an event, it's the superstore of bike shops. The boys had drinks at the Joy Rides Cafe and we walked up and down the aisles looking at all the great bike stuff.
